The new Firelands RFD Station 37 at the Claremont - Blake Sea Regional Airport

Trial by fire they say.... that's what happened today exactly one week after adding the Claremont - Blake Sea Regional Airport to our fire district. Initially, we were called out to a car fire at the Alvensleben Resort & Marina. While there, "flying brands" from the car fire ignited a small brush fire over at the Claremont-Blake Sea airport. We extinguished the car fire ad then headed over to the airport to take care of that. While there, a caller reported the "smell of gas" coming from the old abandoned fire station. While investigating, District Fire Investigator John P. Marchlewski noticed not only the smell of gas but heard electrical "crackling" as well. The building was evacuated barely in time before an electical short ignited the gas leak. A large explosion occurred.....

Before we could get the first engine pulled from the new station multiple explosions occurred resulting in a total collapse of the building...

Ladder 373 arrived on scene and set up master stream operations to keep the fire fro spreading even though the building had already collapsed...

Featured Department: The Alvensleben Volunteer Fire Dept Station 1

Covering two marina sims in the district Alvensleben encompasses both the sim Alvensleben as well as Foresta. Alvensleben is Station 1 (District station 39) which houses all single axle apparatus due to tight narrow roads.

Station 1 Apparatus:

Engine 396 (HD / NextGen Brush Model 66) is the first out engine here because of it's rugged chassis.

(Custom HD Base Theme by Lares Carter; door designs by Asst Chief Cale Solo)

For the Tanker 392, the HD NextGen model Tanker 13 was chosen. Simply put, it's the shortest tanker out there yet still hauls 4000 gallons.

Ladder 393 is an HD / NextGen model Truck 11. Tight roads or not, there are several tall structures at this marina and a ladder is a "must have." Being the shortest 5 man cab out there this is the best fit for our needs.

For Squad 395 we chose the Astaro TPF-4 R-1. While the look and size of the ProStreet Instigator was preferred the TPF-4 is far more responsive and considerable more resource friendly on the sim

Rescue 398 is also an HD (Rescue 3) that was chosen for it's size. While we'd rather have had the larger Heavy Rescue size limitations finally made the choice for us. This rugged little truck hauls everything it's larger counterpart does so we're equipped for nearly anything.
