Firefighter Engineer:
Firefighter Specialist:
The Firefighter Specialist is a senior firefighter who has demonstrated proficiency in a speciality field (for example HazMat, SAR, etc.) at the discretion of the Chief of Fire. Firefighter Specialists do not fall within the chain of command. The chief of fire or their designee may promote a senior firefighter to specialist at anytime they deem appropriate to do so. Specialist are designated with different color tets based on specialty.
Firefighter EMS:
The Firefighter EMS is a senior firefighter who has demonstrated proficiency in EMS at the discretion of the Chief of Fire. Firefighter EMS (includes EMT-B, EMT-I, Medic, and Paramedic) do not fall within the chain of command. The chief of fire or their designee may promote a senior firefighter to EMS at anytime they deem appropriate to do so. Firefighter EMS are designated with BLUE reflective tets on their helmet.
Job Descriptions
Probationary Member (includes cadets)(shared Probationary tag in the in-world group):
All new members will go through a probationary period which shall be no less than 2 weeks in length. During this time it is the probationary member's responsibility to illustrate to the officers that they have or have learned the basic fire RP skills. A probationary member can be terminated by the Chief for any reason including lack of participation, not fitting in with the ideals of the department, causing problems etc. Probationary members wear yellow helmets with yellow reflective tets (to match the turnout gear) and blue uniform shirts.

Firefighter:
Once released from the probationary period by the Chief of Fire or their designee, the member shall be given the title of firefighter. Firefighters are fully qualified to participate in all RPs on any sim the FRFD covers. Firefighters are not authorized to start RPs of their own however are encouraged to bring RP ideas to an officer who will assist with making them occur. All firefighters wear yellow helmets with yellow reflective tets (to match the turnout gear) and blue uniform shirts.
Senior Firefighter:
Senior Firefighters demonstrate the skill, maturity and responsibility as deemed by the chief or their designee to be trusted to run RP’s of their own. The chief of fire or their designee may promote a firefighter to senior firefighter at anytime they deem appropriate to do so. All senior firefighters wear black helmets with yellow reflective tets (to match the turnout gear) and blue uniform shirts.
Non-Ranking Positions
Firefighter Engineer:
The engineer is the preferred equipment operator of the department. Engineers do not fall within the chain of command. An engineer is a Senior Firefighter who performs one station/vehicle check per week as outlined in the SOGs. The chief of fire or their designee may promote a senior firefighter to engineer at anytime they deem appropriate to do so. Engineers are designated with GREEN reflective tets on their helmet.
Firefighter Specialist:
The Firefighter Specialist is a senior firefighter who has demonstrated proficiency in a speciality field (for example HazMat, SAR, etc.) at the discretion of the Chief of Fire. Ranking Positions
Lieutenant:
A promotion to Lieutenant requires a Senior Firefighter to run a minimum of one (1) RP a week. In order for an RP to count it MUST be toned out in the group. Lieutenant positions will be evaluated once every four months in April, August, and December. Note RPs do not have to be major events however it is recommended at least one call be a larger scale event such as a structure fire. Lieutenants wear red helmets with yellow reflective tets (to match the turnout gear) and white uniform shirts.
Captain:
A promotion to Captain requires that a Lieutenant runs a minimum of one (1) RP a week. The incidents must include at least one major incident and also have occurred on at least 2 different sims. Additionally a Captain must hold at least one scheduled training session a month. Captain positions will be evaluated once every four months in April, August, and December. Captains wear red helmets with yellow reflective tets (to match the turnout gear) and white uniform shirts.
Assistant Chief of Fire:
A promotion to Assistant Chief requires a Captain to meet or exceed all of their requirements as well as demonstrate to the chief a promotion is in order. Such demonstrations may include taking on additional responsibilities, special projects, etc. Assistant Chief positions are at the sole discretion of the Chief of Fire and will be evaluated once every four months in April, August, and December. The Assistant Chief will be second in command and represent the Chief’s office in the absence of the Chief of Fire. All chiefs wear white helmets with yellow reflective tets (to match the turnout gear) and white uniform shirts.
Chief of Fire:
This rank is traditionally held by the founder of the department who shall always retain ultimate control of the group. The Chief of Fire is directly responsible for the direction of the department which includes but is not limited to; setting standard operating guidelines, sim relations, station and vehicle setup, personnel issues etc. The department founder may elect to have an additional chief of fire and delegate responsibilities as they see fit. All chiefs wear white helmets with yellow reflective tets (to match the turnout gear) and white uniform shirts. As needed a Co-Chief may be appointed in order to effectively manage the department.
